Fasting the night before and eating them for breakfast will make them come on slightly faster, but it really isn't worth the hassle. I prefer eating a nice breakfast and tripping around noon. Feel a lot more comfortable and refreshed that way.

a) reasonable eating habits - fuel for the activities... vs b) fasting mode - travel light, travel fast, travel far... ~ ymmv...

Only if you ae really the virgin Mary or a similar virgin. Fasting is recommended practice amongst indigenmous peoples who use entheogens in healing and curing ceremonies. mj

Is fasting a part of mushroom ceremony tho MJ? I thought the aztecs used to take their mushrooms with drinking chocolate.
Obviously with stuff like peyote and ayahuasca fasting is a good idea because of the degree of vomiting.

gnrm23 puts it well.
I prefer to have something in my stomach most mushrooms trip, not too much though... I like to eat about 1-2 hours before. Fasting definately leads to a stronger experience.

I rather leave an empty stomach for as many hours as i could before the trip, i mean i try not to eat 8 hours before, but i usually feel really weak after 6 hours so i grab something small and eat it. but this way -when my stomach is pretty empty, the hallucinogen i take wont be heavy on my stomach or make me wanna puke.. and ofcourse its influence is quicker.

Fast for a week then eat 5 dry grams.

I think the amount of liquid you drink before you eat any mushrooms affects the trip strength and length. Try not to drink anything.

hmmm that advice about not drinking liquid is bad. I find that water is key. It shouldn't matter as far as strength and length. Psilocin/psilocybin is water soluble so if you have a lot of water in your belly then the active chems will come out of the mushroom and form a kind of tea in your belly, so it won't make things less potent at all.
Stay hydrated. I've had high dose experiences where my stomach clamped up and I felt very ill almost the whole trip and the pain was only relieved when I started drinking water.. just little drips. Always keep water nearby and drink small amounts constantly.

but psilocin and psylocybin is water soluble you'll urinate a lot of it if you are hydrated which decreases the duration and strength of the trip for me.

As long as you dont eat a few hours before you dose, you should'nt run into any negative effects. However the day I trip, I usually eat very light. Fruits and vegetables etc.. ANd definaltey stay away from greasy heavy foods the day of the trip. That can trigger nausea if you have grease just sitting in your stomach.

Only psilocbyine is water soluable, not psilocine. Your body converts the psilocybine to psilocine through amination after you consume the mushrooms.

Psilocine is not water soluable.

The Mazatecs eat no fopod for three days before and after a velada.
mj
Eating or drink of chocolate when consuming shrooms has nothing to do with fasting for three days before you eat the shrooms.
They also served them with honey but did not store them in honey as some do.
Fasting helps in the healing odf those who partake of the sacred entheogens prior to consumptrions and helps inthe divination of the shrooms.

BTW, fasting before eating peyote is not much fun as you get dry heaves instead of vomit and the gaging is worst on the peyote so it is good to eat the night before and then do not eat int he mornning when taking the peyote. That is if there is any available to take. It is slowly disappearing formthe earth becasue of over picking by white people.
