Hey folks some help would be greatly appreciated. I don't know how but it seems a mycobag of mine has been contaminated. I'm not sure because I know that the bags become very dry and the myc may draw out alot of moisture. The mold i on the bottom and kind of just looks like real dark green myc. very dark, I believe I may have seen a couple of a teeny yellowish looking spot here or there but it may be my imagination. Could yall please help with advice, I will return later tonite.

Green is not good.
Blue/Bluegreen are most often bruises. How dry is the bag? It could be too dry.
You could inject some water and see if the green gets covered with white again. If so... it might be a bruise.
Green mold tends to spread green dust if agitated. Any sign of this?
How colonized is the bag? Any chance of cutting the contaminated portion off and saving the rest? Or is there not enough myc?
If you shake the substrate and sniff near the filter patch, you may be able to smell the contam. If there is one, you should notice. If it smells like dirt, you may be good.
Good luck.
I've never battled green mold in a bag before, but I have mistaken bruising for mold. Especially if the bag is slow to colonize.

Very dry mycellium can cause some bruising.

there is alot of moisture on the inside of the bags, but when I broke up the substrate a week or two ago I noticed the clumps of dirt I broke apart were very dry. THe bags are pretty much fully colonized, I believer there may be a chance of saving some of the 'dirt'. Thank you for your help. I'll be trying to post a pic. I've never done it before tho.

Well when you broke it up, if it was trich, then even the air in the bag would have turned green with contam spores.
So hopefully it was only bruising..

I squirted a little bit of water into the bag and the green hasn't left yet. If it isnt a contam will the brusing go away?

Well if it rehydrates and continues to grow, the bruising should diminish, and be replaced with healthy white mycelium. If its a contamination it should get darker and spread
Good luck, and let us know how it goes.(hope the water you added was clean)

If it is a contam there is nothing to do but toss it out. If you think it was the inoculant that caused the problem I would contact that vendor. If you feel it was a defective bag send me a email. We guarantee our bags to arrive free of contaminants. It is not common but it happens.
To prevent drying of your bags I would look at your incubator and consider the design or your temperature setting.

Well I sent you an email myco. I had two bags both were innoculated with the same syringe. One is growing healthy while the other got contaminated.

Try to take better care of them this time as you stated here:
Quote:
They are fully colonized have been for about a week or two. They have light. The temps for all growth wasn't optimal, lately we have had the most unusual hi temps I've ever seen! Room temp is what they are kept at. I have a poor man set up as of right now.
So if thermal death was the cause of your wohs, then it wasn't mycobags fault, which is something you didnt state in this thread.
good luck next time out, stability of temperatures is important.

Yes paid, the temps weren't too high not enough for thermal death. Never above eighty to be honest, by hi temps I mean above average for this season here. I will be more careful and keep things optimal next time.
