Ok, so if you?re poor like me and don?t have a house here is a way to grill a perfect steak indoors.
Things you need:
Steak Frying Pan Cast Iron Gridle Salt Pepper Fork Knife Your favorite beverage
First things first, take the battery out of the smoke alarm, put a fan in the window(blowing outwards of course), and open another window in another room for air circulation.
Second have your cut of meat ready. I like my steak a little marble-like (thin vains of fat running through the meat) the fat adds mucho flavor, and well, I like to eat it.
Next, heat a lightly oiled pan until smoking hot! I know I know pan frying steak should be illegal, but this step is important. Now, lightly salt and pepper, or salt and pepper to taste, on each side of your steak.
While your pan is heating warm your cast iron gridle at medium heat.
When pan is smoking hot place your steak in for ONLY 1 minute. This is to sear the meat. Do this on both sides for only 1 minute.
Now timing is crucial especially if you like your steak medium not quite rare and not quite done. Quickly transfer steak to your already warmed cast iron gridle. (Do to stupid picture upload limit I had to skip ahead one pic)
Now this is the timing part. Cook 3 minutes on each side...remember you will be cooking each side twice to create those cool looking grill line hashmarks.
After you have turned the steak three times in quarter panel flips (to make those hashmarks) take steak off the gridle and LET IT REST for 10 minutes. The meat must rest, kinda like after humping you can?t just dive back in, the meat must rest.
Now eat your steak with a salad, baked potato, or whatever you like.
Now thats good eatin!

another alternative is buying one of those small BBQ grills at Wal Mart for like $15.00 plus a bottle of propane for $2.50
does well for such a cheap Q

Frankly, I think nothing beats just plain old slow cooking in butter after salting and peppering. Cook for a few minutes on each side so that the salt and pepper make a crust and sears in the juices. Then pull the steak out and let it rest for a few minutes. Take the butter, add a bit of flour and cook for a second, then add a bit of water and make a gravy, and just keep it on the side for every other bite or so. Slurp
