It was good for sure. I wouldnt think they could make it into a film. The whole thing is just one big tale of debauchery. But it IS a good story.

this should be interesting. i see it the other way around. F&L didn't have a solid plot delineated storyline so the book was wide open to movie adaptation. rum diary, otoh, follows a very linear plot with no jumping around in time so there's not a whole lot of room for artistic freedom. we shal see.

there is a ton of jumping around in time in the rum diary. F&L had a strong plot but was a very loose plot, "find the american dream" i am more or less interested in how benicio is going to direct it. terry gilliam is an awesome director, they should have gotten him back.

maybe i need to read that again but IIRC it was pretty much: i got an assignment down in the keys, flew down, drank beer and ate burgers, oogled women, met buddies, avoided hoodlums, drank liquor, fucked my buddy's girl, etc etc, all very linear. again, maybe i need to read it again. i've got some hst book, shark debate or something, i haven't read yet...

all of HST's books jump around alot though, thats just his style of writing.pure gonzo journalism i just know that there is a part of the book that talks about him running for sherif in colorado which has nothing to do with the plot in the beggining, i havent read it in a year or so, ill prolly read it again soon. I heard his latest book is awesome, i havent got to check it out yet.

The Great Shark Hunt, the Gonzo Papers Vol. 1
That book is a seris of articles he wrote for other magazines that are tying to point all in the same direction or make a similar point. It kind of confused me at first but once back tracked and re-read alittle I see what he's getting at a little more. Probably I missed the point entirely, who knows?
I can't wait to see this movie, I think Nolte will make a fine Lotterman. I can already see him pounding away at his desk with his fist, "Dammit Kemp where to these wineheads come from? You have do help your the only one I can talk to, one more pervert and I'll fucking flip!"

haha, this movie will be good.. I wish they did give the directing job to terry gilian again.. but in the cititeron edition hunter did say that him and terry didn't agree alot with things... now with Del Toro directing he may get his way.. he can change what he wants now with toro directiing.
