question about pre employment background check. please give your advice.

So I filled out an application online, had a phone and in person interview, lady said she really liked me. I was offered the job today and it was through email, that's just how the company does it. Attached to the email, I had to give them my name and SSN# again for a background check.
Now I have two misdemeanors from about 6-7 years ago, I made sure to mention that on my application.
Is there a chance I won't get the job, now? Is this normal procedure for the hiring process? I thought they did the background check before even considering someone for an interview?
I already have a starting date, pay rate and hours told to me that I'd be doing, plus a workshop class.
Anyone have any input?
Should I stop worrying? I just really want this job and my misdemeanors were nothing drug related or bad.

You should be fine, unless the misdemeanor is a DUI and your job involves driving a company vehicle.

Did the misdemeanors happen before you turned 18?
Cause in Ontario all that shit gets expunged from your record when you turn 18.

That sounds like standard procedure. They don't pay to do a background check unless they decide they want to hire you.
Old minor misdemeanors probably won't be an issue, especially since you already told them about it and they still decided to hire you. They are mostly looking for recent thefts or really bad crimes.

What are they for and what is the job?
If it's a conflict in interest there may be a problem. Like if it was for theft and the job is retail, there may be a problem.
But if it's just like criminal mischief or possession or something, it shouldn't matter.

You should be ok, but a DUI is one of the more serious misdemeanors when it comes to employment. I would lose my job for a DUI, but I drive a lot from time to time on the clock.

Yeah it all depends on the job you are applying for.
Some employers couldn't give half a fuck about misdemeanors from way back.
My old boss was totally into equal oppurtunity. I worked with this one guy who was straight out of Kingston Pen (maximum security Canadian federal prison) as well as heroine addicts and drunks. As long as you showed up mostly sober, on time and didn't fuck the dog he could't care less.

I keep getting arrested and this is after I filled out applications everywhere and wasn't hired back then when I had a clean record. Oh well work is hard anyway. I live with my parents.

It's been a long ass time since I've filled out a job application, but if I remember correctly, they usually only ask if you have any felony convictions...
Most employers don't give a damn about misdemeanors, but if they don't like the looks of said misdemeanor(s), they can very well not hire you if they don't want to. It's all very subjective to the type of work and the extent of the results of the background check.
I'm a business owner... and I'm a rather forgiving individual that believes in second chances. But I wouldn't fuck with anyone with any sort of domestic violence charges, no contact aka restraining order on them, recent theft charges of any kind, a grossly violent record, sex crimes...
Like I said, it's all subjective.
For example, if your misdemeanors from 6-7 years ago were theft charges, I would really reconsider hiring you. But it would all depend on how you carry yourself, I can smell a bullshitterror pretty well and I hate a fucking theif.

Employment applications ask about any criminal conviction, not just felonies.
I have some felony arrests but was not convicted, my employer did find out about those (arrests are public records) but they didn't care enough to fire me for it.
