Substrate jars and PF-Tek...

Okay, I will be buying substrate jars from ShroomWizard at http://www.shroomwizard.com/sporeprints.html (I know, I know ...but I have no way of discreetly boiling any jars here because of zero privacy). After that, can I just use the PF-Tek?
Also, for casing... is all that is needed vermiculite? I want to maximize yield using just regular things like soil, geo-lite, etc... no humidifiers or anything like that. What's good?
Thanks.

So, simple casing is just:
1. Layer of vermiculite 2. Layer of broken up mycelium from substrate 3. Another layer of vermiculite?
Why doesn't every one do this? You're like like halfway there already witht he PF-Tek...
And it'll increase yield?

the problem with ordering premade jars, is that the substrate settles quite a bit during shipping (shaking around the whole time + being slightly wet = settling into a brick). they will still work fine, they just might be a little squashed looking also your colonization time might slow down just a little bit, because brf mix is supposed to be 'fluffy not packed down' in the jars. id say go for it, but realize you may have to wait an extra week in colonization.

ergot whats the big deal? you cant make your own jars? You cant get an hour of privacy, even at night? I cant see how anyone could get into this hobby without making their own jars. If it's somone doing it one time just to give it a try i could understand, but premade jars cost way too much.
