Done it plenty of times.  Never had a problem.  Although, there is this mysterious white van parked outside my house all the time now.  It has mirrored windows, and government plates.... hmmmm...

Honsetly, your biggest concern with the postal service is going to be irradiation which I think they are starting to do. Once this is in full-swing, mailing syringes or prints will be useless, as they will be killed once they go through the irradiation machines... I think. At least, that's the point.

As far as I know they only irradiate mail that goes to govt offices and other potential targets. It's too expensive to do everywhere. People order syringes all of the time. I wouldn't worry about it.

If they did that to all mail then mailing medications through the mail would become obsolete, so I don't think the Postal Service will be implementing this on a widespread basis anytime soon.
