Home of the last publicly owned phone company in North America, and one of the last government monopoly car insurance zones in Canada, tonight Saskatchewan voters returned the socialist minded NDP to power.
The victory was a sweet one...very close and very significant.
These 'crown corporations' (publicly owned, in Canada the crown is the government) serve as a monument against free market principals...because they serve the public better than their free-market versions from elsewhere. Dare to compare.
Ya just cut out the corporate profiteering whoores! Then there is money for good jobs and cheap prices for consumers! Any profit goes to the government and is used in place of taxation. Ya know...for schools, roads and hospitals!
Gee. What a concept.
Despite massive corporate spending to promote the rigth wing Saskatchewan Party (I was in Saskatchewan lately...Sask Party ads FUCKING EVERYWHERE!) the NDP won, and the crowns will remain to mock laisez-faire capitalism for 4-5 more years at least.
