vermiculite in grain
    #2074953 - 11/05/03 10:50 PM (14 years, 5 months ago)

i want to fruit off cased grains. it seems like people have gotten good results from mixing the grain with some wet vermiculite for water retention... spawning it to verm as it were. i want to do this.

what ratio do you think i should use, and should i let the mycelium run through the verm first before i case it, or is that unnecessary?

Starter made a few posts in the grow logs forum using a 1 to 2 verm/substrate ratio with excellent results. There is no need to wait to case since the verm is non nutrient and there is a lot of substrate, so it colonizes very quickly.

here's a link to Starters post:

It's not exactly "spawning it to verm". Verm is non nutritious and therefore cannot be spawned to. I think what you are wanting to do is very similar to this http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat...;o=&fpart=1
