Thanks tiger. I had 8 of them and wiped 4 of them with an unsterilized paper towel and part of my sterile-gloved finger and just left the other 4 alone. I didn't think the condensation would hurt much, but it sure does make it annoying to see the agar.
My rounds haven't been open anywhere except the SAB.

How long ya been doing this? You already have better habits than 80% of newcomers!

I watched a random video on YT 9/29 and started studying later that day, I think. I inoculated my first PF Tek cakes on 10/10 and have been reading everything I can since. It's a fun hobby!

It's been a while since I made any pasty plates, but when I did, I'd bring the pc to a boil, vent steam, put on the weight and immediately turn my stove to medium. Takes a little while longer to get up to pressure, but never had a boilover. If you're topping the pp5 with a paper towel before wrapping in foil, you've already got a perfectly good sterile paper towel to wipe down the condensation with.
Another alternative use for pp5s once you move onto real petris is plant tissue culture.

I didn't even think to use the paper towels I took from the cups, lol. I had them right there in my SAB too. D'oh.

Hola!!
So -- I inoculated 8 days ago but used 3M durapore tape -- this tape did not breathe at all. For five days water remained on the surface of my agar, condensation heavily remained and I saw no growth of any kind.
On the fifth day I wised up, did some research and figured out Durapore tape is poo! I used a micropore tape and after 3 days (the 8th day in total) I have growth on 4 minis and nothing on 4 others.
Here are pics from 1 mini round:

Spacechildo in another thread pointed out that my myc site in the top of the photo actually has a bacteria pool surrounding it.. The little dickens!

I just poured a bunch of petri dishes last night and inoculated them (PE). My question is, after storing overnight they all have condensation on the lids. Will this hurt anything? This is my first time working with agar.

It will subside with time. It doesn't hurt anything. It just makes it harder to see.

This has been answered repeatedly in this thread, not too far back, but to not be such a dick, NO, it will not hurt a thing, and more than likely dry up in a few days

For those who have an issue with searching huge threads,
Change the URL to a big thread like this to the following:
http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/19208976/fpart/1/vc/1 to http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/19208976/fpart/all/vc/1
And reload the page. Then you should have about 500 posts per page and you can just do a CTRL+F search for keywords to find if someone has asked about whatever issue you have.
Using "condensation" (without the quotes) as an example, you can find 40+ posts talking about it.
It's no substitute for reading all of a thread, but sometimes a thread is so damn big and old that it's a great help.

Haha yeah, was just speaking in general. This thread is huge because it's awesome and helpful. I'm hoping to see some growth on mine in the next few days.

It's crazy I have only been here for 10 months and I remember when this thing was new. Now pasty plates have become a household name.

I should actually just leave this be, BUT, with fear while doing it, I was warned that this thread was I forget how old, and that it should not be replied on unless absolutely necassary, well, I thought it necassary, after being a little embarrassed over the whole thing, LOL, and bam, it took off like wildfire again!

when it comes to teks that work. I see no reason not to ask relevant questions. No matter when the tek was written.
