Lighting for cakes

in the faq it said how indirect sunlight or various other forms of lightbulbs will initiate pinning, and it said how several hours a day should be adquate... iw as wondering if a regular flashlight would provide the right light, and if several hours of a lightsource a day is still neccesary after pinning

the light source lets the mushrooms know which way is up so if you take the light source away the mushrooms start to pin they will in all different directions. A flash light would work but it seems kinda inefficient with all the batterys that would have to be used to keep the flash light on several hours a day when you could get a small cheap light socket and plug it into a wall outlet.

If you check on them daily you don't need to do anything extra in the lighting field.

I find that good lighting is important for a nice pinset. Indirect Sunlight or flourescent lighting seem to work best. Any light will work though. Just experiment to find what works best for you. I find 12 hours of natural indirect sunlight gives me the best pinsets.
