Conservative Catholics are royally pissed at The Pope
    #20703407 - 10/14/14 07:03 PM (9 years, 4 months ago)

for softening his stance on gays and those cohabitating out of wedlock by saying that The Church should focus on “the positive values they contain rather than their limitations and shortcomings.”

But Pope Francis, who startled many in the past by saying “who am I to judge” those in gay relationships, has been trying to move the church to recognize the “gifts and qualities” that gay people bring to the church and to provide a more welcoming space for them, “accepting and valuing their sexual orientation without compromising Catholic doctrine on the family and matrimony.”

But some influential bishops expressed alarm at what they called a “near revolutionary” document.

Said one angry cardinal "Who the fuck is the God damned Pope to tell us not to judge?"

What limitations and shortcomings?

Not towing the line as put forth in Catholic doctrine.

What is ironic is that Christians will you that all are sinners. They then go on to judge those that commit certain relatively harmless sins and overlook their own foibles.

I think some people are pissed because the Pope is attempting to take away their justification for a superior stance. Now who can they smugly look down upon?

Not like Jesus taught this very message of compassion or anything.

When you're right, (however rare) you're right.

Check your email, I just sent you some good old fart jokes.

I liked this joke because it reminds of the miscommunication that goes on here everyday.

A wife asks her husband, "Could you please go shopping for me and buy one carton of milk, and if they have avocados, get 6."

A short time later the husband comes back with 6 cartons of milk.

The wife asks him, "Why did you buy 6 cartons of milk?"

He replied, "They had avocados."

If you're a woman, I'm sure you're going back to read it again!
Men will get it the first time. My work is done here.
