Please help! Brown cap mushroom found in orchard.
    #20698925 - 10/13/14 08:04 PM (9 years, 4 months ago)

Was in an apple orchard this weekend and came across some mushrooms growing in straw.  Any help in identification is appreciated!

Habitat: Cleveland, Ohio, USA.  Was in a field (apple orchard) and came across a few bales of straw on the ground.  A bunch of mushrooms were growing out of the straw.

Gills: White gills, I believe they are "free gills" (forgive me, new to identification and proper nomenclature).

Stem: White stem.  Solid, medium thickness (or seemed medium to me relative to the size of the cap).

Cap: Brown cap per photo (sorry, cap was damages by the time I got it back to my house).

Spore print color: Heavy brown spore print.

Any help is greatly appreciated!
