Odd shaped jars
    #2069264 - 11/04/03 02:23 AM (13 years, 1 month ago)

I'm looking to expand my operation by about 24 jars and I found 30 jars for $1 from a place by my house, the thing is they're shaped a little weird, you think this would matter? I doubt it just wanted a second opnion, and I know I should just buy real jars but you just can't beat 30 for $1.

Here's what the jars look like (sorry for the crappy paint job) the red is the actual volume of the glass. The rise on the top (when birthed, bottom in the pic) is what had me wondering about it, any opnions?

If the top is the top in your picture, then you'll be okay. If the mouth of the jar is tapered inward, thats when you'll have problems for getting cakes out.

With grain, it doesn't matter what shape your jars are really, cause you just scoop it out anyways.

yeah the top is the top in the pic, they're tapered outward so it will come out easily, I figured it wouldn't matter if it had that extra nub, but wanted to make sure before I fixed up 2 dozen jars, thanks for the help =)

it might help your colonisation times if you were to fill that 'nub' with dry verm as it might take the mycelium a few extra days to collonise that area.

ps this is just an idea and has no basis in anything i have ever tried,as i have never used jars shaped like that.
