Pereskiopsis cuttings
    #2068965 - 11/03/03 11:38 PM (13 years, 4 months ago)

I received some pereskiopsis rooted cuttings in the mail today. They are very dry and the leaves seem to have mostly dried out and perhaps they might fall off. Una, I believe you mentioned that once pereskipsis drops it's leaves they don't grow back, will new growth progress from the apex?

Mesagarden.com I didn't want to order via mail or email so I just kept calling until I caught them in the office. They spend all day in the greenhouses. They were really quick this time of year. I ordered and received within a couple days+weekend. Just call the phone number and tell him over the phone what you want. It was 3 US dollars a cutting, and 4.5 shipping.

i had this same problem with some one i ordered Pereskiopsis cutting from.  mine are not rooted, and VERY dehydrated.  the person i got them form said that this was very common, and not to worry.

im not passing this off as fact, just as info that he has given me.  he told me to not treat them like regular cacti...too water them often, and there should be no problem.  this is what im going to do

everything i have read other wise just comments on to be carefull that the plant is caloused, and to have a "propigator" of some kind just so you can keep the humidity up.

i this helps :smirk:  keep us up to date -m69-

Yo, I just picked up this Pereskiopsis with what she called a crested Euphorbia grafted onto it. It was growing a huge side shoot so I bought that one. I'm still not sure if it was even a Pereskiopsis stock but everything I've seen tells me it is. Heres a pic,

Any info in cloning these would help but I'm going to do it anyway,

It looks like pereskiopsis to me. I can't wait to graft some lophs onto it, maybe some other cacti from my collection also. My cuttings seem to be doing well. The shaft of the plant has gained alot more color and I've been watering them heavily. I even see some small fresh new growth coming out of the dry cutting area ontop.

Oh yeah, the guy I talked to from Mesagarden said they do love water. He said in the growing season you can't water them too much. He said he could leave a hose on the plant and it will be happy.

Pereskia, not Pereskiopsis.
It's a more "herbaceous" cacti, that's why they use it for Euphorbia which is not from cactus family.
I never heard of cacti seedlings being grafted on Pereskia.
