How's this casing look?
    #2068630 - 11/03/03 08:54 PM (13 years, 6 months ago)

Does my FOAF's casing look alright? Is it ready to fruit? It's been in there for something around a week now.

No, it's dark coir. It's a little wet, no mold. Any tips on fruiting? My foaf's last attempt to fruit failed horribly, so what alterations should I make?

make sure you have all bases covered - temp 70-80, lots of fresh air, humidity 95%+, some light..... +time

good luck

Also, should 95% humidity just be moist around the edges?

lol i think you're right TRS. and etard, im a noob myself but im sure i've seen info here on shroomery about light. I think i recall you only need a little bit of light a day just so the lil guys grow upright.

that looks like a large rubbermaid with just one corner filled with substrate/casing material,if i'm right, try to find a container which would better suit your amounts of substrate/casing material you have available next time.
though it should still work the way you have done it.

Yes everyone's correct on the amount and leveling; however I didn't have anything big enough to sterilize the amount I needed, and I also didn't have money for a new container, as for the leveling, that's my bad. So half hour of light a day will do these things okay?

why wouldnt you be able to expose the mushrooms to a normal day/nite lite cycle.

I have my casing inside a pmp with clear sides on my screened patio. (temp reasons) what are the negatives of this going to be?

In fact doesnt the cub. growing parameters call for 12 -16 hrs of day/ grow lux light during the primordia formation and fruiting/harvest stages
http://www.shroomery.org/index/par/23457

if that casing is not ready to fruit yet it should be in darkness. but it looks ready to fruit to me.

~sorry if this confuses anyone~

It will pin with only 1/2 hour of light, but it will pin MUCH BETTER with a full 8-12 hours of INDIRECT light. In my experience, light makes a big difference in how good of a pinset you get.
