hunting question
    #2068349 - 11/03/03 06:06 PM (13 years, 1 month ago)

hey i think im going to go hunting in some fairly dense woods near my house outside of seatte WA. Ive been told by my friends that the best places to go are pastures and thats what i have done in the past, but im planning on tryign somthign new today and was just wondering which actives to look for.

fairly dense woods with trails
15 min outside of seattle

and where is the best spots to look...like under logs or around trees?

oh and one more question if i find somthing that looks like it may be active and i bruise it and say 30 min later it isnt blue is that a sufficient reason to just throw it out?

Dude you've got a fair amount of research to do. We're here to help out, but not to spoon feed the information to you.

Maybe because you don't need to be looking in the woods or in cow pastures if you live in Seattle?

Your best bet right now is to find Ps. cyanescens. They will be growing in hardwood (Alder, beech, hemlock) mulch beds which surrounds rose bushes, plants, and bordering gardens.

Psilocybe cyanescens are small, with carmel caps, white stems, purpleish sporeprint and will blue intensely upon handling. I would do an image search on www.google.com for that species and see what you can find. Post any findings here for a better ID to what you have found.

if you visit this forum enough you will see alot of seattle posts for finding cyans, those should give you a clue of what to look for and where. dont bother in the woods, they're growing right under you're nose when you walk around town. one word: mulch.

do some research so you can figure out how to positively ID cyans, and good luck!
