I did correct the photo but I did not use auto levels to do so, I used another plug-in called levels which is done manually with a graphic chart. I earlier tried to correct his first images but could not determine an ID from them because they were hard to see and too small to id. And I would like to point out your statement:
Quote:
MJ you say an ID is "impossible" yet 6 minutes later you have an ID after you go through the "trouble" of lightening the pic just to throw it in his face.
Apparently you do not know me at all and saying I only did the correction in order to throw it in someones face is the more BS than you claimed you were speaking of regarding my reason for correcting it. I have corrected numerous images to heplp others to identify what they have. It is not throwing anything in anyones faces. I think you should think clearly before you go making acusations that are bullshit as the one in your quote. As for my English I know how to spell., I have visual problems which is no ones business but my own and I wear tri-focals and my screen is way above my visual sight causing me to glance upwards at a very uncomfortable angle. And regarding the I-5 collection in the early 1980s. This large fruiting was shrown at Breittenbush Hot Springs Annual Mushroom Symposium in Lake Detroit, Oregon on slides. The shrooms were collected growing in alder and willow which was spread along I-5 highway between Eureka and Arcada, Ca. on boith sides of the road. The patch grew for three seasons and then the nutrients in the woodchips were all used up. The slides we saw was one of the largest collections ever seen by me, Stamets and others who lectured that year at the symposium. Ten years later Jochen Gartz and I found an 80 pound patch of blue ringers at the Valley River Shopping Center in Eugene, Oregon across the Willamette river form Skinners Butte Park. mj And P.ds., I was not harsh or angry with anyone who posted here and since you seem to know I have a problem with typos and you only have a few posts, that tells me you are someone who has registered here under other names before or you would not be aware of my typo problem. If you read the name next to my photo image you will see what it says about that. have a shroomy day.

heaven forbid their arguing should completely derail somebody elses thread.
it happens a lot and there are rules against it beyond a certain point. i encourage free exchange of ideas, and i like to see ideas challenged, but i do not like to see a thread lost because of it, when it had no place in the thread in the first place.

Concrete Feet, i was only helping the person who started this thread in identifying his mushroom collection. mj
I did not flame him or geyt anywhere near the kind of remarks sometimes displayed at people who haven't read the faqs or other pieces of info here in this forum used to help people in their identification of such species.
I willingly corrected that image so others could see what the person who started the thread had found and I did not flame or throw anything in anyones face aas to that matter. i did suggest that he take better images so it would be easier to identify the p mushrooms he found. AS do Gumby Dude and you at various times when it is hard to identify what people have, expecially those who post no pictures and then ask you moderators here to id it for them.
Anyway I was not directing anger at anyone in my post correcting the image so people could get a p better impression of what P. cyanofibrilosas look like and they very little resemble those given by paul Stamets in his book which only showed little baby one to two inch sized quarter specimens. mj

i realize that you are all trying to help; but when it comes to the point that an argument starts to take over a thread, anything unrelated to the topic started by the owner of the thread should be discussed privately, or in a new thread on that topic. i'm not trying to be a nazzi, but you guys need to keep it on track.

My appologies to the mods and to Hongosmeester, after all this is his thread. My intention was not to start a war. It was only to point out to MJ using his own words that he was being harsh. It was meant as constructive criticism, just like MJ's signature, I believe we all can be better than we really are.
MJ .. I do know who you are, and like I stated previously you have done much good work for this community including dozens of photos I have seen you correct. It just seemed a bit high-handed of you to (as I saw it) talk down to Hongosmeester because his efforts were not to your standards. You seem to believe that you were not being harsh or demanding so I will believe you and I hope you can accept my appoligies. Maybe I took it the wrong way.
Also I was not intending to criticise your spelling, only to point out that we are all human. I'm sure Hongosmeester did his best with the pics he posted, after all he appologized to you for posting photos that were impossible to make a correct identification from for you, and he said he'll "do better next time".
I don't think that post count may be used to judge my character. I haven't ever posted on this board under any other name, nor have I ever been harsh with anyone else here. To explain my low post count is simple; I don't claim to be an expert nor do I have anything to ID right now. I do come here often to read and learn though. I have for a long time even before I registered.
I'm sorry this post has gone so badly, I'm really a nice guy.
