H. Peroxide in spore water
    #424733 - 10/14/01 02:29 AM (20 years, 1 month ago)

heres the thing,
Lets say you wanted to mass produce " spore water"
for example you take 1 pint jar fill to the top line w/ distilled water and you pressure cook for 1 hour then let cool, then put the jar into a sterial enviroment w/ a screen on top of the jar and put a cap on top of the screen, then in a day or so the spores drop in the water, then you pull off the cap and screen and put the lid on and presto you have spore water.
my question is if you put H. peroxide in w/ the water would it affect the spores? later?
lets say a 20 :1 ratio or less or more?

Peroxide kills spores. It is only safe to use with mycelium.

Perhaps he visited www.mycomasters.com and read their Manuals.

actually yeah, h202 does massacre spores.. if you could concentrate the liquid to millions of spores per .. uh.. really small space, you could probably add a couple drops h202, but it is sort of pointless. Why not just use honeywater w/o h202 for your spores, let it become a bit of mycelium, then add the h202? you could make mycelium syringes instead..

Peroxide is a deadly toxin. It is broken down by peroxidases in the body, namely catalase. Spores contain no peroxidases, and they die, bacteria also contain no peroxidases and they die, but mycelium does produce peroxidases so it does not die.

I've been thinking about trying a method like this because spore printing and then scraping that print into water seems a bit labor intensive. This method, as you described, with the spore-straight-into-water aspect, sounds good.  But my question is, how long can you store that spore water for before it can no longer be used?  Can it be frozen?  Thanks.

Yeah sometimes I have to stop and catch my breath and my arms are just sore for days from all that heavy lifting:lol:

Seriously though I can tell you peroxide isn't going kill all that bacteria falling off the cap into the water anyway. What does kill the bacteria is making a spore print, the bacteria dry out and die.

i think what you suggest has been done, wrong, a lot!

i think in my research, there was a published tek similar to what you want, that was published by the original PF.  that tek, omits the water and the peroxide, but is otherwise much the same.  it was done inside half-pint jars.  i suspect that this is the tek that PF used in collecting the spores he used to sell.

after the spore-print is made, it is turned into bulk spore-water which in turn got diluted before sale.  this should provide you with a copious supply of clean spore water if properly adapted.

when i tried it, i was just a noob, so i ended up with nothing but contams and abandoned that procedure.

Yeah, because if something can be done much easier, why not do it the hard way?  Right Pussyfart?" Forget what Henry Ford did to all future industry by looking for more efficient ways to work.  And forget innovation, Pussyfart!  You're right!  Why push the horizon? It's not like you can make new discoveries or ways of saving time in this age of science and information!  What a great name, by the way, Pussyfart.  I love it!  Thank you for taking the time to reply with such helpful information and life advice.  I'm sure you must be very busy with your "hobby," but you managed to find time in your day to insult a stranger.  How kind of you.  You are a genuinely mature adult, of which there are far too few in this world.
And now, predictably, under the disguise of the internet, we will watch as Pussyfart puts his foot where his mouth ought to be in his inevitably assinine reply to this.  :-)

his name is pussyfart, hahaa good riddance man, christ

side note , in real life who the fuck can stand u

appropriate response to someone in adv. mycology
stating spore printing and scraping too much labor

and what i was going to post
:::
why not print into a dry sterilized mason jar
then fill with water? what's the point of the spores
going directly into water? thats the method i used
and plan to continue using ...

/e
p.s. he never insulted you. you're insulting him
in a very immature and annoying way.
p.p.s if you think putting a cap ontop of peroxidated(Sp..)
h2o is going to be an innovating ... uh ? quick google
search reveals peroxide kills spores, and putting a cap
ontop of water makes no sense (to this noob) when u can
put it ontop of glass then fill taht glass w. water

lol:o aight putting down the crack pipe in sparkin this
blunt with my dog ... got worked up haha
