They always bring ice making units in semi trailers, so it's no big deal to start with good ice, but after that things can go wrong. Warm weather is a problem and so is snow. Some of the cold weather cities have had real fucked up conditions too. The attendance at outdoor NHL games is so high, they will keep doing them.

The first winter clasic was incredible. But after that they've all been let downs. I had a chance for tickets for 2011 at face value and the game was delayed for like 8 hours due to rain best 600$ I never spent.

All I have to say is fuck you capitals... seriously. Overatedchkin is a fucking cheap shot artist. That was a fucking slash, period. They let that fucking retard get away with anything, and I don't know why.
Fuck you caps, fuck you officials... frankly, it's starting to get like the National Felon League with all the bs that happens lately.
Don't get me wrong, I love my pens, and it sucks to see your team lose in a fairly called n played game... but out of the last 10 pens games I've watched, it seems like the officials feel the need to handicap us with ticky tack puff calls.

Hawks RW Patrick Kane has a 3 point lead in the scoring race. If he finishes the season on top he would be the first American to win the Ross Trophy. He also has a shot at the Hart Trophy (MVP), which has also never been won by an American.

Well, forget that. Kane's knocked out for either 4 or 8-10 weeks.
I never had a problem with the league being dominated by Canadians and some Europeans. But it would have been nice to see an American win something, sometime.
He probably wouldn't have won the MVP since his own teammate Jonathon Toews is generally considered to be a better player. It's hard to be the MVP if you're not the MVP of your own team. But scoring flash is always a big deal, and I think Patrick Kane is the most exciting player in the NHL. Too bad. We'll never know what would have happened.

i watch hockey cuz i like fights, i like big hits, i like brawls, i like teams that truly fucking hate eachother. theres none of that in hockey anymore. its like fucking basketball
hockey has lost its identity. not only will they never gain more fans, but theyll lose all the diehards. hockey needs to accept that theyre playing a mans game and fights happen.
even the bruins dont play physical anymore. it sucks to say but the pussification of america in general has killed this sport
id rather watch a Bruins team that loses each night and fucking goons it up over a pussy west coast finesse team that wins every night. i hate how hockey really is changing

Hockey has just as much passion as it ever has. The rules have changed and the "goons" can't get away with what they used to and as a result the role of the goon has diminished, but has in no way been eradicated from the sport. It sounds to me like you aren't a fan of hockey, you are a fan of violence. You might want to switch to MMA.

Enough with the OV is a dirty player BS. He plays recklessly, not dirty. Penguins fans are always the ones to get all up in arms about Ovechkin, when Crosby is constantly doing things far more disgraceful than anything Ovechkin has done.

When have you seen Ovechkin jump somebody off of a faceoff while the guy was digging in for the draw and completely oblivious to any fighting intentions?
When have you seen Ovechkin slew foot someone from behind, completely away from the play in an effort to injure?
These are all worse than leaving your feet for a hit, getting an elbow up, or what he did to Letang (watch it in slow mo and you clearly see Ovechkin swinging his stick prior to Letang moving his foot in front of the puck to protect it.) Its hockey and shit happens. Ovechkin is reckless and dangerous, Crosby is a disgrace to sportsmanship. Crosby is a phenomenal player, but he is far more "dirty" than Ovechkin.
The beauty of the NHL is that the league polices itself. If a player runs around, that player has a target on his back. Your penguins have had plenty of time to get at Ovechkin for anything he has done. You don't see OV pulling dirty hits trying to injure players, you see him playing loose and recklessly, and if/when things go wrong, he should be held responsible by the league and the players in the league. If you don't like what he did fighting majors are 5 minutes. O.V will fight you fairly, unlike Crosby.
You remember when O.V. obliged to fight Steve Downie. They both removed their helmets and squared off legitimately. Granted Bradley came from across the ice to break it up, but O.V. was a ready and willing combatant against a renowned fighter.
