Time
    #2065263 - 11/02/03 02:05 PM (20 years, 4 months ago)

Time is something I have been pondering about for a few days now.

So what is the deal with time?

I wondered whether this reality gives the impression, or illusion, of time. The day and night, driving to the shops or rolling a ball along the floor.  Or does that just prove that time exsists?

It seems that the "now" or the "present" is constant. The present 500 years ago is the same present right now, as it shall be tomorrow, in a week and 500 years in the future.

hmm im confused...

your thoughts please

Whenever I think of certain things too hard... like Time, my mind just reaches a point where I can't function. Thats all I have to say.

Assuming time is infinite, yes, now is the only real time. If something is infinite, it cannot start or stop at any point.

There are two very distinct and entirely different things called "time".

One is objective time, or "clock" time. This is the temporal dimension of our universe. It is exactly the same as the three spatial dimensions, and should be treated so.

The other is subjective time, or the experience of time. I think subjective time is the conscious experience of movement through objective time. Why we seem to be stuck in one direction I can't say, but I think it may have to do with Causality and our immersion in it.

But that only permitted other men with machines to enslave them.

The experience of subjective time which seems to move at different speeds suggests that maybe the speed of light c might not be constant. Clocks measure time as a function of position and motion; and if position and motion are linear functions on a nonconstant c, than no change in c could ever be detected through measurements of position and motion (ie with a clock). The human mind (be it at the brain level or otherwise), however, does seem able to detect changes in c.

I can easily understand why it would, because there is no way to prove (or disprove) it.

I see time as non-existant. Take any REAL experiance for example. Time dosn't matter. You don't even think about it. It's ever passing But can seem longer then a Clock can tell us. you can watch each passing day. And experiance nothing. But when you do time can stand still for hours. Days. Weeks. Some people experiance Life in there dreams. Seperate demention or time? Does it really matter? Ths un rises and sets. is that time? or a pasing phase?

--------------------
The sun and moon will Many a time rise and set.
And there are many decisions in life.
Some are wrong Some are right.
But like the sun and moon It will always go on.

Time is movement
Time is the rotation of the planets, the solar system
Time is what keeps the galaxies dancing around each other
Time is relative
Time manifests at different speeds in different parts of the universe
Time is not a clock, time has nothing to do with clocks
The Moon is on time
The Earth is on time

Time is not linear
Time is subjective
There is no future or past, because time simply is
Future and past are perceived notions, not the way
Time is cyclical
Time is what keeps things moving
Some would even go so far as to say without time, there would be no movement, no progress, no evolution

Time exists, but not in the function we perceive it. It is not a universal constant. Time is simply the push of energy.. the movement created by the perpetual equilibrium in synergy of balance.

Time is a measurment. Try not to define time, but to explore what time measures.

wut if time was different for each object
such as...(following time on a clock, or sun) 5 minutes to me..is 10 minutes to u..and we follow the suns time because its jsut so huge..it contradicts what we can do at certain points..so we follow the sun...
i guess the sun is our master...
