Newbie guide on where to hunt?
    #2066370 - 11/02/03 11:25 PM (14 years, 5 months ago)

Is there a guide that shows what to look for and where to look for mushrooms in north eastern US? Preferbly Northeast Ohio. If not, tips would be greatly appreciated

Mushroom's Demystified is a good all-around book. Its centered around North America, mostly in the Pacific NW, but, has a lot of information of all of the United States.

Another good book that is centered on that area is Mushrooms of Northeastern North America by Alan Bessette, Arleen Bessette, and David Fischer.

Psilocybe caerulipes grows in Ohio in June through August.

mj, otherwise it would be edible shrooms and it is pretty near snow time for Ohio so I doubt you would find any magic, maybe a few edibles right now. Good luck.

mj

P.s. On July 25, the 126 legistlature will outlaw sporeprints in Ohio.
