hi all i've recently moved to sussex, and have been looking for lib cap's all over the sussex downs. i was just wondering if anyone in the southeast has had any luck yet! there seems to be all sorts of mushrooms popping up since the rain's started but no lib's yet maybe i'm just looking in the wrong fields

South east America?

You wont be finding Liberty caps in the South East. Your best bet will be Psilocybe cubensis growing directly out of cow dung, but, I think you're a little too late for that.

Where is Sussex?

Hmm...well, depends on where you live in the Southeast, doesn't it?

Southern Louisiana will have them growing much more than say ....Georgia.

yes, but the main question is? has anyone in the south east of england(uk) had any luck with lib cap's yet? i wazs certain some would have popped out over the weekend but i didn't see one although there seem's to be more fungal life around maybe i'm still being a bit keen since the rain's only just started down here,or maybe i'm just looking in the wrong fields (being new to the area) but i 've been all over the sussex down's cow fields, sheep fields all over but no joy please help

Hi craig, i spent the weekend scouring the southeast, sussex, surrey
and hampshire, no joy at all. I dont think its been wet enuff
long enuff yet. but that should change this week.

Did find a few of those ^ though :]

Keep checking sheep fields, and higher parts of the downs, as
they havent been ploughed, and I've found them there before.

Psilocybe semilanceata is the main active in the area.
Found on grazed grssland mainly. But its also worth checking
woodchip mulched garden beds for Psilocybe cyanescens. Mainly
found in parks gardens.
good luck and happy hunting.

unlucky after our spell of rain it looks like being dry for a while. The water company in Kent is trying to get permission to forcibly install water meters in all households - despite winter arriving there is a serious drought problem.
