trading in a vehicle
    #2064599 - 11/02/03 11:41 AM (13 years, 5 months ago)

well the need for my Nissan Altima has come to and end, it was a great little car for road trips, city driving, etc

never had any problems

but now I am thinking about getting a truck, something small like a Toyota tacoma, mazda pickup, ford ranger etc....

thinking about goin to a dealer to trade my car in to a dealer for a 95-99 truck which i will use for work n such
The blue book says my car is worth about 3700 for a trade in.

jus asking for a advice when trading in cars, tactics, etc...

and if anyone wants to recommend a truck that would be great to!

thanks in advance

if you have some time on your hands, you can definately get more by selling the car Private Party. Check out www.kbb.com for the dealer's trade in price compared to the private party value, and see whether it's worth the work.

You'll also know the price he should be giving you for your trade in. If you do end up letting them trade it in, entirely clean every inch of the car, and make sure you're next to it during the inspection. Make sure you ask what they're writing down in their notes.

good luck

Oh, and you'll never get Kelly Blue Book trade in. Most dealers use NADA for pricing, and they usually go back of lone value. When they can buy them at the auction for that price or less, why should they give you more than it costs?

I do think i will get more money by privately selling my car...

only problem is that it has a cracked windshield, and a minor bump in the front....kinda fuckered the right turn signal (but it still works)

the car runs great tho

any opinions on if i should get the the damage fixed before privately selling it or jus trade it in with the damage???

thanks!

Even if a dealer gives you a good trade value they will just tack some of that back on as fees or some other hidden shit. Sell it outright and bring cash to the dealer. Get the best deal you can and then throw your cash in to be taken right off the top.
