No one will ever be abled to tell you what variety you are growing. They are cubes. That's the best you are going to get.

Looks like a classic cube. Its not leucistic, albino, PE, Rust/Red spored and probably not KSSS. Nothing more can be said with any certainty.

The biggest noticeable difference is that leucistic spores are purple and albino spores have no pigment.

Ate a a little over 5 g of PE yesterday. Hands down they not like any cube I have ever done. Had a complete break from reality. Was dancing and singing in other languages and had an out of body experience. Single most intense trip ever. Nobody can tell me pe is not the exception to the cube is a cube rule. WOW.

So more than a while back, I was given some jars of what my friend called Penis Envy, but they obviously weren't regular PE. I did monotubs with them. Just simple coir ones.

They came out absolutely dandy, somewhat oddly shaped, but much more normal cube looking than regular PE , so I don't think it was pure PE. Still, they were very potent (I had a 4.5 trip on 3.5g of the meanest looking bastard I could choose), thick, blued easily, with lumpy stems and a capacity for getting fucking huge. I would describe them as wild. Many over 60g mushrooms have passed within my hands.

It also gave me my best yields (around 120-140g dry), which are not up to par to some of the pros out here.

My first tub had more regular PE looking ones, I didn't clone them, but got spore print from the more regular looking ones, and from there, had many more beautiful tubs. These came out all looking more like regular ones with a wild twist.

So, do these sound like PE6 to you? I'd like to do something similar when I get back into all of this.

Yeah, unforunately I can't find pics. Was a bit paranoid back then, but I'll scrounge my harddrive.. And no, I moved, and my roommate probably didnt keep them.

Do most regular cubes have the capacity for getting gnarly stems?

Most regular cubes have the capacity for most mutations. Leucisim, albinism, blobs, rust spores, chimerisim, rosecombe, fatasses, penis shapes, etc are all acceptible within the phenotype. The consistency with which some of those traits might appear will vary tho. But many things are possible through isolation which is why agar is stressed repeatedly.

MUTATIONS!  Mutations can absolutely rock.  Years ago I was growing a Ps. cyanescens strain in my garage in a converted fridge and they would pin at around 50F and fruit around 60F on chips or other cellulosic substrate.  They were beautiful, potent, and slow growing.  Thanks to the fridge malfunctioning in the summertime I had a runaway heat situation with one fruiting tray and they mostly croaked around 85+F.  Mostly but not entirely.  The strain actually survived after looking dead for a while, and I continued to propagate it, well, just because.  I'd been growing out myc on rye berries, but after this incident, the strain would fruit on rye, at cube-like temps, but still had the phenotype and potency of the parent, although keeping it below 70F in fruiting made it better.  But it converted from a cold-weather strain to a warm temp strain that was a lot easier to grow, with the same trip effects.  I grew this strain religiously for quite a few years until one day I gave up cult and tripping entirely for about a decade...

So if the characteristics I liked seeing were coming even through simple MS, does that mean whatever strain I had might have more of those characteristics than normal?

Or does the moment that MS comes into play make anything strain related a mute point?

No, why do you think they were coming through MS?  You propagated the first lot from jars and they could have been isolates, took prints from (what the ones that dropped spores?) and they yielded more normal fruits with some of the parents thrown in?  Latter sounds like MS, first like an isolate.  You should be able to isolate the original from the offspring again (if you had prints that is...).

I just saved a contaminated GT sryinge using agar for the first time. I feel like a boss and fell in love with agar immediately. That happened earlier today. I'm awaiting growth in a birdseed mason.

AND! I was able to wait for the growth to show different characteristics, So I cut the piece that was the healthiest, and furthest away from the contaminant.

Subject: Perfect! I want to adopt your awesome tek

Hello,
I was Reading a write up on Grass seed as a type of substrate slash cake like method.  I want to adopt this tek. If you dont mind. Maybe someone could share their knowledge.
So Ive been using the BRF tek and it has paid off, but im finding that the fruit bodies are kinda small thin and dry down to next to nothing.
some people beleive it is the strain and others clame its the substrate.
Could someone shed some light on this please.
Sorry my Question mark doesnt work on my keyboard lol.
This started out as a way to make more from only a few nice caps I found in a cow pasture. I made spore prints and then made syringes. Learned the way of the BRF tek. After I was able to get the mold situation under control. I made more jars of BRF subtrate and spliced slivers of one of the cakes and Those jars took off. This will be the 4th generation. This last batch looks fantastic. And they are about to burst into fruits. Wondering if I should drop this strain or keep it running. Do you beleive that they can run their corce. (question)
I would really love to hear your thought.
re cap
could it be the substate or
the 4th generation
or just the BRF tek all together.
again they came from a a natural setting origenaly.
Maybe I should go with online order strains.
Thanks for your advice in advance....
