Shaggy Mane (Coprinus comatus) recipes
    #2064348 - 11/02/03 06:31 AM (14 years, 4 months ago)

Anyone have any good recipes for this wild mushroom?
It tastes like asparagus but better..
Where I worked over the summer had these growing everywhere
so I picked a couple and sauteed them (hard to keep them long
enough to prepare them without them going to ink!)

I was also suprised to see some growing in front of a building here in the middle of October but they'd totally gone to ink.

Anyway, anyone have recipes? Found a couple here, anyone have more?

they are good for soups.
if you sautee them in butter and save them they will keep frozen for a long time.

Attn PWN hunters: If you should come across a bluing Psilocybe matching P. pellicolusa please smell it.
If you detect a scent reminiscent of Anethole (anise) please preserve a specimen or two for study and please PM me.

Pretty much everything I ever used them for they were sauteed first.
They are good in an Alfredo sauce with lots of garlic.
Or added to a grilled cheese sandwich.
Philly steak sand
Added to scalloped or au gratin potatoes.
Havent had them in a while though.
