Ya very nice!! I feel blessed to have finally held an Allenii in hand this season, damb are they cool!! I wish the rest of the patch wasn't completely frozen! I find it kinda neat that although they are up in Canada, they are still fruiting at the same time as their natural home in California. which is too late for up here. Cyans and azures were popping in September, but my Allen's won't pop til November/December. Wierd eh.

Same thing happened for me and I'm in the mid-valley of Oregon. Cyans started in Late September, Allenii finally popped in November. Did not expect that.

Do I have what I think I have? ID assistance would be greatly appreciated. Golden Gate Park. One area with three small patches (L1, L2, L3). Most specimens were already uprooted, as you can see in the pictures. Unknown specimens were nearby.

All:
Two views of L1:
Two views of L2:
 Two Views of L3:
 Two vies of unknowns:

Most are Psilocybe cyanescens, a couple are P. allenii. E is something else.

Ya that shows a real distinction between cyans and allens. I wonder if Sporulator found the fruiting times different in Europe? I noticed yesterday my patch is still alive since I covered it with a bunch of leaves and a folded up tarp!!

Found a small patch of Psilocybe allenii pins a week ago at a nice little irrigated place in Emeryville. Lucky they didn't get stepped on while growing. More pins are now appearing.

Found a badass patch of P. allenii in San Leandro yesterday. Over fifty youngsters at various stages. I clipped a few that were starting to dry and then watered the patch with four gallons of water. That and the upcoming rain should get them nice and big.

Decided to visit the last mentioned P. allenii patch before the rain this morning to try to pop off some nice photos. But was surprised to find many of the caps split on the edges...caused by either swelling from the rain or munching by bugs or both...not very picturesque. I therefore changed my plans and harvested all the split mushrooms, leaving a remaining three dozen to try their luck into next week.

Thanks! Aren't you in the bay area? Today would have been a most frustrating day to hunt. For everything is wet...you cannot tell what has been receiving irrigation and what has been dry up until yesterday. I think a couple more days will be needed before we can hope to find new stuff from these rains. We're definitely entering a new phase.
