Some questions about coir monotub tek

How wide do the holes have to be? It says drill them but they look pretty wide, can I use a Dremel to cut them? Also how much does a brick of coir weigh? Im assuming not all bricks weigh the same, the ones I bought are 650g.

1.5 inches is standard for holes. You can buy specialty circular saws that size, which will work with your power drill, at hardware stores.
The average coir block is 650 grams, exactly the amount needed for a 66 qt mono substrate.

a brick of coir that is 650g should expand to ~6 qts i find. i usually throw in 2-6qts verm and a handful or two of gypsum for the amount of sub i need. More verm = more sub

I ended up getting a paddle bit, from what I read the tub should be 66qt, do dimensions matter? If so, whats preferable?

Lol cool I got 18 1.5 pint jars colonized fully im going on the elementrary monotub tek with 9 jars in two tubs, I have 14.5 quarts I figure better overshoot on two then undershoot on 3? Also I found a 5 gallon bucket but the lids are sold seperately and theyre out. Is throwing some thick plastic on it and something to weigh it down while verm and coir mix a ok idea? Thanks

The standard mono is a sterilite model #1928, 66 qt and clear. If you read a tek, that is usually what they are running.
Cron is right though, don't over think it. If it is see through and looks about right, use it.

I use a grey sterilite tub for my mono grows and I've never had a problem. I cut a large hole in the lid that's fitted with plexiglass. Works like a charm.

I got the 1928 sterlite 26 x 16 x 12 are the dimensions l x w x h. How high should the bottom holes be? I have 2 quarts of verm and a brick of coir 4 quarts of boiling water in a 5 gallon bucket for the substrate.

so dump 15-18 qt's of water in the tub and mark it off, 15 being your bulk at 10 qts' and five qts of spawn 18 if ya add enough to case it
