Would someone with a digi. cam try this? Please?
    #2062559 - 11/01/03 11:19 AM (20 years, 4 months ago)

I don't have the pics to prove it but the results are just amazing.
I need someone with a camera to try this, and show everyone what I mean.
I started a run of PF style jars. 1/3 were BRF. 1/3 were WBS. and 1/3 were made from the stuff cleaned from the bottom of a bird cage. It was a mix of EMPTY seed hulls and bird shit.
The WBS and BRF grew at the same rate. The cage jars were grown out in 1/2 the time.
All jars were fruited in the same chamber with the same conditions.
The cage jars were birthed 11 days before the others They have produced more shrooms per flush then the others. Also the were close to twice the size/weight of the shrooms grown on the whole ground grain. I have no way to test them for sure but they sure as hell seem more potent.
I don't know if it was the seed hulls, instead of whole grain, or if it was the bird shit, but I was shocked at the difference.
Would someone here be willing to try this?

Do we have any farm boys (or girls) that would be willing to do a comparison grow on straw from a chicken coop and straw from a stable?

Bird shit contains really a lot of nitrogen ! It might just be too hot and could easily contaminate, but it definitely has a huge amount of nitrogen - like human pee, also . Would be interesting how much nitrogen is in there - have nothing found about that in GGMM :frown:

I know chicken shit has to be limed if you put it in your garden because it is pretty acidic maybe something to make it a little closer 7 ph would make it better and the nitrogen I have no clue about but maybe parrot shit is composed differently
I really like how many people try new things on this site I have a couple birds I will have to give it a shot

I was afraid of the PH so I tried to get mostly seed hulls but I ended up with a good bit of poo anyways. I did have to adjust it a little.
Next I plan to try a jar high in bird poo, and one high in seed hulls.
If you try this let me know how it goes for you.

Can you please explain what is the relation between lung disease and bird shit or have you got a good link about it?

You grow on it. you don't breath it.
Once it's steril you have nothing to worry about.
Besides, these are pet birds, not wild ones.

what whitesox is talking about is Psittacosis which is a form of Chlamydia, but their feces is really not the threat as an infected bird can transmit this diesease through general contact.

Plus cricket is right they are pet birds and have been vacinated for such diseases if your bird has this disease it would be obviously ill or dying if not already dead.

here is a link for those interested... psittacosis

i did almost the same thing, and growth is almost 2X faster. i just need to make sure of the quality.. -- i can not find any jars like the one`s in the USA-so an wisky glass will have to do.
