Semiglobata?
    #20621202 - 09/26/14 11:49 AM (9 years, 4 months ago)

Been finding these here recently in a rich fertile soil in horse paddock they don't look like the seniglobata I've seen before, but could be. It's like there's a skin on the cap that you could peel back and it peels back after picked

I'm in the southeast

Those are a weird red color for semiglobata and they're so much more umbonate that I would expect. is the skin on the cap gelatinous?

Ghosty I'm thinking the same thing. This is an interesting shroom and I just had to post it after seeing another cluster. What do u mean by gelitanous?  The ring on stipe and black spore resemble a psilocybe or stropharia

They are always this color btw when I find them.
The most mature one I found had a wavy cap

Yes, it's an interesting colour variation, possibly another cryptic species but certainly Protostropharia, interesting to look at the mycelium at the base of the stipe with a microscope, there are some interesting structures to be seen there.
