Thanks for looking! So I've had 1 really successful grow out of many attempts and I'm thinking I need to upgrade my equipment to make things easier. I could justify spending $300 on a hood but not much more. (My successful run was casing from rye berry jars into oven pasteurized horse poo that were placed in an indoor mini greenhouse terrarium. But in the following attempt the spawn never took over in the casing boxes.)
I can't stand using the still air glove box! Its a major PIA. Think I will turn it into a monotub if all works out.
So I think that having a laminar flow hood would make things much easier. I've got a inline duct fan (pic attached) left over from an indoor "flower" grow way back (not going to grow indoors anymore, too time consuming and expensive electric bills).
My problem is I have no idea what CFM rating it is. It doesn't say on the fan and it was purchased so far back that it doesn't show up in my eBay purchase history. I do know that it's 6" 2700 Rpm and 125W from 120V supply. I looked on eBay at similar newer ones and I think they are about 440 CFM. Does this sound right?
Can someone please recommend me a filter size for this inline fan? Then basically I guess I just frame it up with some 3/4" thick wood from home depot put it together with wood glue and screws and put the blower in the top or back?
Other questions: I've seen box designs with sides to the front of the filter and a clear lid, would an experienced grower recommend this or just to have the front open? What should the dimensions of the box be? Got a link to something that looks like what I'm attempting to describe?
Also, I don't really like messing with jars. They're a pain in the ass to clean, heavy, and take up a lot of room in the small pressure cooker I have.
So would an experienced grower recommend getting autoclavable bags with homemade or prebought filter and silicon injection port?
Can anyone recommend a cheap but reliable impulse sealer or any type of sealer that will work.
Was also wondering if I should build some kind of cover for the flow hood/box to prolong the life of the filter.
What else am I missing? Any tips are greatly appreciated!!!
I had such beautiful and life changing experiences with the first successful cycle that I'm going to keep trying until I get it right.
Only bad thing about that is I guess I didn't store them correctly because while I thought I was getting a really high tolerance they actually lost their potency before they were all gone. But hopefully will learn from the mistakes.
Please give me any tips you think would be helpful. Thanks!

Okay without a CFM rating on the fan you're using there really isn't anything I can do. You can always try building the flow hood and then dialing back the flow of air until it bends a lighter flame 90 degrees.
As far as bags go I don't bother with them yet. My 23 Quart PC does 7 jars which is enough to inoculate 49 other jars which is enough to make 100 tubs worth of shrooms.
I like jars.

If you do use an in-line blower, which if I'm correct is the kind that looks kinda like jet engines (not gonna download your attachment; next time try uploading pictures and putting them in the post), you'll need to change its position in order for the air to come out evenly.
The air comes out of those in a spiral. The first one I made used an in-line fan. It still worked well for me, but the airflow came concentrated out of the right side of the filter (facing me) because the air was pushed more right than left, since the fan blew clockwise.
Presuming your fan blows clockwise, you'll need to cut its hole and mount it to the LEFT of center (facing you). Since the air comes out in a spiral, one can probably use the spiralical proportion (golden rectangle) to determine where to place it. In proportion, 1:1.6 space to the left:right of the blower. Somewhere between that and 1/4 to the left of center will be good, and the air should press evenly thru the filter.

Go look at the write up on fungifun dot com. They build a hood step by step with an inline centrifugal fan. Should be some help. In the meantime start googling the model number on your fan to find specs
