Making "brownie squares" from a mono tub?

Hey gang, I had a think the other day and was wondering if it would be practical, but I need some input. The procedure would basically follow the same standard mono tub tek with grain spawned to coco, but when the substrate was nice and white and colonized you could do this: take a sterile knife and cut out a bunch of brownie size squares from the substrate, then plop it in a FC just like you would with a PF cake? If this worked it would likely increase yield heavily because you would get pins from the sides as well, AND you would have a much better time fighting off infections: eg: when a PF cake gets infected you just toss it out and the infection can be thwarted, as with in a mono tub, if you see even a little green your whole tubs fried. If this is possible it would be awesome, the only problem I see is that coco may not have as much nutrients per volume as a PF does, so taking a little brownie square may not pin? theirs also the possibility that the edges cut out might get infected? but the hope would be that it would fuzz over with mycelium again pretty quick? Idk, it would be nice to hear out some advice from some gurus, and If it seems like a good idea I would be sure to try it and give everyone updates with pics:)

Just grow cakes? The problem I'm seeing here is that in attempting to reduce infection your more likely to increase it taking un necessary steps.
Your also going to have one hell of a time keeping your moisture content under control and the moisture loss while maybe giving side pins will result in smaller shrooms due to a lack there of.
However I've never read anyone doing it here so give it a go if you feel it a good idea and keep a good record. Who knows what could happen if you don't try.

if your throwing them in a green house setup, then you won't in theory gain mushroom volume in the end. you will just have more numbers of mushrooms.
by creating more places for mushrooms to form, more nutrients are needed at any point in time, therefore producing smaller mushrooms in greater numbers. that's not fact, just how I feel.
and technically, if you colonize a tub, cut it up, then fruit as individuals, then there is a very good chance that when 1 cake contaminates, others are soon to follow.

Why not spawn to "little brownies squares" in the first place instead of messing with a big fully colonized monotub???? Seems like a lot easier and lot less of messing around + a lot less chance of contams...

It just seems a lot more easy to make a big mono tub with say...6 qts of grain, then slice it up yeilding a good 50 PF sized squares, compared to individually making all those jars, prepping them, sterilizing, innoculating, birthing, ect:P

Just throw your spawn and sub in a big clean freezer bag, mix it up fill your clean brownie cups or whatever you will be using and let them colonize. If you fuck up with cutting up the whole sub you'll end up with nothing. I don't see the point in handling a fully colonized sub that roughly, you'l end up with bruising all over your brownies for sure. But hey go ahead and try it.
