First post! I typed one out about 10 minutes ago and i don't believe it posted. Anyways I have been watching forums for a couple weeks now and decided to make my first post. I decided to use rye berries. Boiled them for about ten minutes and let them sit for about 12 hours.Rinsed them and let them simmer for about 15 minutes where i felt there were at a good moisture. Didn't have anything to inoculate these so i stored them in the freezer for two days took them out and let them sit in loop warm water to unfreeze. I seen a tek where a guy took tyvk and put it over his lid and took high temp silicone and placed it over the inoculation point so i did that. i pressure cooked for 2 hours in my 12 psi pressure cooker took them out and placed in the freezer to cool to room temp cleaned bathroom so i was ready when they cooled.
i used 2.5 cc's "Golden Teacher"per 1 quart jar but after pcing i realized i didn't place tinfoil over the jars before pcing so i took alcohol and cleaned some tinfoil and placed it over the jars after injection. They are in an incubator with the temp set at 79 degrees. Plan on using a tote 2.5 feet long by 1 foot high took the sticker off or i would say how many gallons.. I am not sure what i will spawn these to yet and if anyone has any suggestions i would appreciate it!

Welcome!
Not sure if your moisture content will be correct. Cooling them quick like that will cause an excess of moisture to develop inside the jar. Most TEKs recommend letting them cool in your PC for 8 hours.
The aluminum foil is supposed to be placed over the jars WHILE PCing to keep excess moisture out of the jars. AFTER you inoculate, you should take the aluminum foil off to get the proper GE. If you don't, your jars will take forever to colonize.
Next time I recommend following a TEK to a tee... It may work out for you this time, but following a proven TEK is the best way to achieve a successful grow.
Good Luck!

Thanks for your response i was starting think i wasn't going to get one! I knew i had to use tinfoil but i was eager to pc them and forgot completely! I have been reading quite a bit thanks for telling me to take the tinfoil of because i don't think i seen that anywhere though most of my research was based on the substrate and sterilization!

Welcome! Keep reading up, and DON'T QUIT If you have questions about how your colonization goes, post some pics and you'll get some answers!

hey good luck ,
i agree , follow a tek to the t namely PF tek to the t
but since you didnt , its all good . what did the rye look like before loading into ur jar ? it should be dryish looking plump(in comparison to non-prepped)rye berries . can you post any pics ?
can't recommend any bulk substrates as i've never used any , but i plan on spawning my rye to 50/50 straw/horse manure from out-grow . probably a good idea so you can get experience fruiting from bulk without having to worry about proper made substrate

The PF Tek I followed didn't make it clear that you had to take the foil off, so I didn't. I found out about 4 weeks later it needs to come off. The jars were taking FOREVER but when I took them off the colonization speeds jumped up to 10 times what they were. If I had done it right the first time, I would probably already be harvesting lol. Glad I could help you not make the same mistake.
