psilocybe cyanescens season?

So this summer a friend of mine had been watering a cyanescens patch to keep the mycelium growing, but due to bad circumstances he wasnt able to water for a few months. My question is, how do natural cyan beds survive the summer without water for weeks at a time? And as a follow up question, would a cyanescens bed fruit (given the right temp) within the first few days of being watered/rained on if it previously didnt have any water for a few weeks/months? Or is there a period of time where the mycelium needs to repair itself even if it had the right conditions to fruit?

they start fruiting because of water evaporation near the surface of the myceil. + weather conditions (temp)

theysurvive the same way all do, spores start new colonies and there tolerant to weather, being dry would suck for them but you would be surprized at how good the fground is at holding enough moisture, we don't water our chantrelle patches and they do just fine. as for your second q that depends on alot of factors like weather or not your bed was established well enough, how much it dried out, what your temps are yada yada so it's pretty hard to say if not impossible but all you can do is try and see what happens
