mushroom hunting is not for everyone. it is verry easy, but you have to know what you are doing.

Attn PWN hunters: If you should come across a bluing Psilocybe matching P. pellicolusa please smell it. If you detect a scent reminiscent of Anethole (anise) please preserve a specimen or two for study and please PM me.

Yes, hunting takes patience, but the season has just started here, so you gave up too early.
Anyway, whats wrong with growing AND hunting

Eh.
Being outside in the wilderness and being one with the mushroom is a very beautiful thing.
If your talking strictly about hallucinogenic mushrooms, its a lot easier to find a patch, go there every year during the fruitings and picking them, rather than growing!
You shouldnt give up so fast. Course, you should be living in an area which actually has edible mushrooms first.

Nothing beats mucnhing 'em as you walk through the fields. Field-dwelling mushrooms are happy mushrooms.

If you are an expert at identifying them... heh I know I wouldn't dare pick and eat anything before having it identified.

I wouldn't eat anything until "I" identified it. Its just as stupid to rely on other peoples skills when your perfectly capable yourself if you'd just read and try. Everyone seems to be afraid of wild mushrooms, its not hard to identify most edibles as well as Psilocybin species, if you can't do either its because your not trying.
If all your interested in is getting high, then I guess hunting might be too much of a task, not to mention having to learn to identify. Most people here hunt mushroooms because its fun, rewarding, and is a great way to spend time in the outdoors. Again, if none of that interests you, and your just looking to "trip some shrooms", mushroom hunting is not your cup of tea.

Well I didn't mean to infer that ones own skilsl were lacking, just that I myself am unskilled enough to require it. That and even professionals can have a hard time sometimes... or at least that seems to be a common belief in various circles of thought.. or maybe ovals I dunno ;D

Thats not a bad thing either, just like if you can't ID a snake, you don't pick it up. If your not confident in your skills its wise choice to stay away from consuming wild mushrooms until you do become confident in your abilities. Nothing wrong with that. As far as pros having a hard time ID'ing some mushrooms, thats only a few genus/species, theres enough edibles and Psilos out there that are very easy to ID to get started, once your good at what you do, and want to learn about other species you can go for the hard ones.
I guess I just didn't like the tone of this post. Its like going to a vegatarian site and saying you think they are all full of BS and you like to consume meat products. You don't come to this forum and tell us all that you don't like our hobby because its too much work. OK, thats nice to know, don't let the door hit ya where the good lord split ya, ya know!
Like I really care if you find mushroom hunting to be too difficult for your tastes, did he expect some sympathy or something? Was there even a point to this post?
