Cake was colonizing for too long, does it look ok? (pics)

So as title says, cake was colonizing for more than 2 months and parts that were colonized first got a bit fluffy (doesn't look like cobweb though), is that a problem?

Also, it colonized fully 2 days ago, but it has already started to fruit at one spot, should i dunk/roll or just birth them immediately?

How did it smell?  Did it smell like fresh mushrooms?  If it doesn't smell stanky, I would dunk and roll them and birth right away:thumbup:

Yeah it smells ok, will dunking and rolling hurt the mushroom that's already growing?

Also, it does look like it has some small traces of cobweb on filter layer, should I just wash it away and proceed?

Edit:
Here's the pic of the mentioned cobweb

Should i scrape and continue?

filter layer?  for this tek, the best way to keep out contaminants is to keep about a half inch of dry vermiculite on top of the moist BRF you have in.  no need for filter and you can take the aluminum off after you PC the jars.  Don't worry too much about the little guy.  If he doesn't grow out, more will be following for sure.

I might suggest you pick up a copy of Roger Rabbits how to grow mushrooms dvd.  There is a huge amount of information in there.  Some good tricks on making things a little easier too.  Lots of information on medicinal grows too which could benefit your health as a supplement.

Make sure you always smell your jars.  Bacteria or mold can be present but the smell will be off.  you will usually only see mold after the spores are present, so you cant always see the different types of mycelium growing.  Smell is the way to go.

Sorry for the wrong expression, I did thought about dry verm layer as filter layer.

Alright, thanks for the info

Ya I feel any more than this will just add more complications.  Throw her in a shotgun fruiting chamber and she should be good to go.

U gotta knock that dry verm layer with the cobweb off of the cake. After birthing the dry verm layer gets removed before the dunk

Regarding the tinfoil, I actually had ENORMOUS problems with water getting into jars during PCing (as you might see from my post history). I tried numbers of ways to prevent it, from wrapping it with more layers of tinfoil, to ducttaping entire jars with 4 layers of foil, and every time moister content got f'ed up.
Finally, I put two layers of foil under the lid, and two over, and that worked out the best (still some amount of water managed to get in, I guess thats why it took 2 months to fully colonize).

I dont think it took 2 months if that pin had gotten that big already...
