A Very Special November
    #2060828 - 10/31/03 04:04 PM (13 years, 1 month ago)

Hey everybody,

Just letting you know, if you don't know already, the Lenoid Meteor showers are coming back in mid-november! www.space.com has the details, i can't check right now, but from what I remember they will be best visible after midnight between the 14th and 19th. I'm planning to have my first mushroom experience saturday the 15th watching the showers!

I'm glad you posted this. About a year or two ago there was a SPECTACULAR meteor shower and I luckily had a two grams of Puerto Rican strain Psilocybe Cubensis. I'm telling you it has been one of the most beautiful and memorable experiences of my entire life. There were all kinds of different colored meteors that left awesome trails: emerald, gold, ruby, etc. It was a site to see.

I saw a HUGE meteor shower about 4 years ago near Lake Tahoe California (elevation 7,000ft...clearest sky EVER). I was sober and it was the greatest thing ever!! This was the meteor shower that hits every August 12-14 or something like that. i forget what it is called.

The details >> http://www.space.com/spacewatch/leonids_2003_news_031017.html

Enter that sounds so awesome, i'm freaking psyched. I might wait till the early morning 19th and skip school that day, I think that will be the grand finale. Hopefully the weather will be nice, I seem to get screwed every time there is a meteor shower. Dgrepo, good luck with that camping trip man!

I can't wait for the experience, I love this place.

Later on guys n' gals.

Thanks for the reminder. The fall meteor shower season started on October 21 with the Orionids. On the 3rd of November there is the South Taurid meteor shower. And the Leonids peak on the 16th.
Then the magic happens in winter. The Geminids peak on December 13th with an average of 50 meteors per hour. Then a week and a half later, on the 22nd the Ursids peak. Finishing off the winter season is the Quadrantids shower which peaks on January 4th, with an average of 40 meteors per hour.
The cold weather showers don't get as much attention as the nice summer showers. But if you have a good view and bundle up, the sky will be at its best.
Another november sighting: The asteroid Hermes will pass by, 18 times further than the moon on November 4th. (This one requires a telescope)

enjoy

By the way, if you are planning on only watching one night, the peak of the Leonids is on the 16th. It is a Sunday, so late Saturday night and Sunday morning should be spectacular. Also, but harder on the schedule is that night/early monday which should be great too. Chances are one of the nights will be cloudy (my experiences). So it might be best to try and watch the weather during the week.

good luck

Thanks student! I think the saturday/sunday evening/morning will be the day, just hope the weather holds out, I seem to always get screwed, maybe it was all leading up to this moment....

Dunno, have many good ones.
