Pint finally colonized after 40+ days...nutrients exhausted?
    #2060318 - 10/31/03 10:51 AM (20 years, 4 months ago)

My pint BRF cakes of GC have finally completed colonization...I knew pints took long but damn! They were at tad wet too and that caused the slower colonization. My question is, after 40+ days of colonization, has the mycelium exhasuted the nutrients of the cake? I plan on dunking this afternoon and birthing tomorrow (Sat.)...I have done casings before, but I decided to try the PF method for the shot of it...oh yea, my thai casing is pinning like a mofo...will be ready this Sunday...plan on going camping next weekend at the guadalupe river!

Why did it take so long? My pint jars are almost done colonizing and it's been less than two weeks.

Have you been keeping the temperature around 80??

No question is so difficult to answer as that to which the answer is obvious.

Meow.

Did you pack the shit into your jars? This guy I know did this and it took his pints about two months (including a week and a half for central colonization) to get there.

Yea, pints were just too compacted...too wet, but they sure are healthy now! Temp was around 82 deg always...I pulled one out and broke it up to see how well it was colonized and it looked great..going to do a mini casing with 1 pint...There are several projects going ,so I will do a nice gorwlog with pics soon..thanks all.
