o I have a mono tub of grated up of cakes. Then spawed using damions5050 tek. This is day 6 after spawning. How's it looking so far. Should I add some polyfill holes for GE? The lid isn't air tight so I imagine the lid is fine for GE. Also. I'm noticing some water droplets on the myc. Should I put some holes to allow some evap? Thanks guys.

Are you going to put it into fruiting today?

That doesn't look like a monotub... Anyway let it finish colonizing you should look up real monotubs that looks like a tray that you would fruit in a sgfc or greenhouse or make a dubtub

Gunna wait until fully colonized. And its just an unlined monotub. Going to do 6 2" holes with polyfil Ibelieve .

Yeah, you will need a few polyfill holes just above the substrate for FAE (Fresh Air Exchange) when you want to induce fruiting. The lack of FAE (thus high concentration of CO2) at the moment is what is telling the mycelium to grow. (The mycelium thinks it's underground) When you allow the CO2 to leave though the polyfill holes and add light, the mycelium knows to start fruiting. (The mycelium thinks it has reached the surface of the ground) The polyfill is there to keep your humidity level up.

Actually full colonization is the number 1 pinning trigger

Step Seven: Make your monotubs You can drill the holes in your mono at any time while the jars are colonizing. Just take the jars out, follow the steps, and then put them back in with the lid on until 100% colonization.
Using your 1.5" hole saw, drill two holes on each long side. These should be 4-6" in from the sides and 4" from the bottom.
Using the same 1.5" hole saw, drill one hole on each short side. This hole should be high up near the latch for the lid.
Put duct tape over each hole and place your jars back inside to finish colonizing.
After you drill the holes keep them covered with tape, then once you hit 100% colonization dial in your monotub like a boss.
Not saying any of this in a mean way at all. Trust me. I have the utmost respect for all of ya but I know its just a tub at the moment. i still have to drill the holes. And i understand the process of growing (now im not saying i know it all, because i am sure the fk a long ways away from knowing half of it) but this is just a side experiment and my first monotub grow. I've had a few other successful grows :p I didn't have any tape which is why i haven't drilled holes yet, but i dont see how this has any effect on the colonization stage. It shouldn't right?
Now on to my questions again, i don't believe anyone has given me any insight on them yet.
1.) should i put some holes with polyfil in it now, while its still colonizing, because i see a good bit of water droplets on the myc. It almost looks like as if someone were to mist it a good 3 or 4 times. If so, where should i put the holes/how big of holes. should i put 2-4 1/4" holes at the top, and stuff with polyfil to allow a little evap out? i notice the lid is also quite moist when i remove it. or should i move my light a little closer to it for now on to try and dry some out, (then again, the water has nowhere to evap to so it runs back down).
2.) Should i put a few 1/4 holes with polyfil in for some GE? Or is my Non airtight lid sufficient?
Appreciate all the help fellas. Glad i came out of the lurking shadows and signed up:p Sight is just pure amazing for advice and reassurance !!

This is not a monotub because from the looks of it it is only a couple inches tall look up monotub and you will see why it is not

It looks like one of the big blue storage totes to me.

My depth preception must be off then it only looks like that sub is inches from the top of the tub

I think the pic is just at a funky angle.

 I don't think it's the angle...

Its just the angle. I used something similar to this tub.
http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/8231041/an/0/page/2
Only differences are that its not clear, and its not lined at the bottom.
Is this condensation ontop of the sub okay? or should i take action to try to let some evap out?

It's all good man. I just don't assume anyone knows anything because I've seen a lot of people come on here with no idea what they're doing. It sounded like you thought you already had a monotub built and just wanted to add some extra holes.
For your questions...
1. Nope. No open holes, or holes with poly for now. If you had already drilled your holes you would want tape over them. You want it completely sealed during colonization. Condensation is normal.
2. The lid provides enough GE during colonization.
So what you want to do at this point is wait for 100% colonization, the entire top should be white. Once you get there follow the instructions I posted above to drill your holes and stuff your poly. Good luck
Sounds great! Thanks mate. like i said, first monotub, and i thought back to wbs and BRF jars, and remembered condensation is a slight no-no, so i figured i double check to make sure i was in the clear:p
Once again thanks:)
Cheers!

Also, you can notice in picture #1, the myc growing upwards in little fingers, is this "rhizomorphic" growth?
