Using a NESCO dehydrator to dry my fruits
    #20594280 - 09/20/14 07:29 PM (10 years, 3 months ago)

As usual, while looking through info on the proper way to do this, I'm bombarded with contradictions. Some say that going above 95 degrees risks potency loss, while others claim to have successfully dehydrated at 165 degrees for 24+ hours.

So, what should I do?

Just looking for a correct temperature and time frame. Thanks a million in advance!

as high as she goes until you get cracker dry. 8-12 hours for smaller fruits 12+ for average and up to 24 for thick fuckers but I cut those in half.

I too was worried when first using a dehydrator, but you've got nothing to
worry about. dry those suckers for 8hrs or more. better cracker dry than coming
back a few days later to find soggy fruits. that's what happened to my first
harvest

8-12 hours on 160 degrees!? Damn... I threw them in the dehydrator on 160 at noon and I've gotta take them to a friend around 5... Hopefully 5 hours is good enough?

Fuck it. Guess I'll bring the dehydrator with me then and continue the process when I get there... :P

Always use 165 with a nesco and it takes a long ass time when full.  Haven't noticed any potency issues.  Actually, the last time we ate them we put the dried shrooms on pizza and toasted the pizza and had great results!

If I'm only dealing with a few fruits. 8 hours dose the trick at 160. If I cram that sucker full so the trays barely fit it takes 24 hours +

most noobs underestimate cracker dry. even the smallest shroom I've grown takes more than 2.5 hours.

:whathesaid: they will rehydrate if you do not get them completely dry then  that potency loss you're worried about is a reality as the active chemicals oxidize
