Went out for a walk and crazily found this big ass reishi believed to be Ganoderma resinaceum sensu North America

So naturally I took a TC to agar. See if I need to clean it up then I'll grow it out.

Ganoderma resinaceum! Very nice find, I think it will grow well! A lot of energy in that strain.

A few people have said resinaceum but it had no oozing when cut, why do you think it's resinaceium vs tusage or lucidium etc.
the cut up one in the last two pictures is the very middle conk in the first picture. I took the picture after I took the tissue clones so it's a bit dark from being wiped with alcohol, but even after being torn it didn't ooze, neither did the cut from the tree.

I believe it to be resinaceum due to its morphology, Species in the G.resinaceum group tend to grow sessile (without a stipe) often with overlapping tiers. This fits the resinaceum morphology that I have observed. Tsugae is most commonly found on conifers, tends to be more bulbous and more often than not has a stipe. Its context will be a white color while resinaceum will be brown. Ganoderma ludicum has not been reported from North America. Sequencing of some North American 'lucidum' samples came back as being closer related to G.resinaceum than to G.lucidum which was originally described from England but has been widely misidentified throughout the world. It is now thought that it is largely restricted to Europe with possible extension into Asia, but more research has to be done due to morphological discrepancies.
It is possible that a more appropriate name for this might be G.sessile, but this may be a depreciated synonym, with resinaceum being the preferred synonym. But from what I understand the resinaceum was described from Europe, and the European species is slightly different than the North American species. So slightly confusing so to keep it simple I call it Ganoderma resinaceum sensu North America which seems most accurate.

Nice find! Is the tree dead? Looks like it's in a park or something, nice that you got to it before they cut it down and hauled it away...

Yeah, that's a pretty big infection. I imagine at some point someone will come along and remove it, so good thing for saving the genetics.

Still trying to get a picture of the tree again hopefully soon, it's a bit of a drive. The plates look good so far I'll take a picture of the plates sometime mid week.
Found this in google images http://pctrs.network.hu/clubpicture/1/2/2/7/_/ganoderma_lucidum_farm_1227895_2417.JPG
