Inoculating in SAB

I'm PC-ing some grains right now and I made new lids without SHIP cause I'm gonna use a SAB this time. So when I inoculate by cracking the lid of the jars do I still need to flame my needle between jars? I figure I don't cause I'm not actually touching the grains with my needle but I'd still like some reassurance.

flame the needle for sure. you could have contam spores up the needles that will travel out with your solution and you could have spores on the outside of it that could fall off into your jar.
oh between jars like flame once at the beginning then not again? i would still though cause why not? it takes 3 seconds and is the safe bet

Always flame. Just because the needle isn't touching the grain doesn't mean anything, the grains should already be sterile anyway.

Don't know bout that man, I think taking my arm out the sab and back in sounds like more possibilities for spores instead of just cracking the next lid. It only takes a second if I set my jars up just right. Don't men to put your answer down just really curious and wanting to see your point of view.

well really if you were properly set up and had all lids loose i might even agree that itd be safer or at least quicker to work safely to just flame at the beginning. that way you do jar, close, and your already hovering next to the next jar and ready and dont have to go out, flame and go back in and wait any for the shit to settle.
i would flame cause i like to get stoned and methodically machine my way through my SAB work but if you needed to be quick for whatever reason i doubt it would be too bad.

I'll see tomorrow how I do it cause it'll be the first time I'll do it like this. So I guess I'll just see how comfortable I am in the sab and do what feels natural. Thanks for the advice and point of view... (wish me luck lol)
