2nd Flush Genetics
    #20592416 - 09/20/14 11:38 AM (10 years, 3 months ago)

Hey All,

So I fruited a mono and initially had really dissapointing results, barely 1.5 O's from a 50 qt tub. I harvested the first flush and dried it. I was preparing the tub for rehydrating and had about 4 grams wet leftover. I ate them on a whim and had a level 3 trip. I also had a friend sample them and he agreed they were by far the strongest cubes he had ever eaten, him being a frequent tripper.

I collected a good print off of the largest cap but as I understand the genetics will not carry over through spores. In the interest of maintaining the genetics I have for these extremely potent cubes I would like to take an isolate from the second flush but would this be advisable? Would it be detrimental to the already small flush I had?  Should I just put the spores on agar?

You should do a biopsy on a fresh mushroom from the 2nd flush. Put that on agar. Also, what was your substrate and your ratio?

I was using coir verm gypsum, and I put in 5 litres of spawn. that was my intention I just dont want weaker genetics because its a second fluch shroom rather than a first flush.

Unfortunately, there's no guarantee your second flush will have the same genetics as the first.  Cloning off the second flush can also be bad because there's no guarantee it isn't just a late first flush for that strain, and that you're isolating slow genetics.  But cloning is the only way to ensure you keep any desirable trait.

I think op wants to clone the potent ones, not necessarily the fastest. OP, start working with agar NOW and next time you've got the super potent guys, you'll be ready
