Coffee in bulk sub question

Hello!
I have a question about coffee in a bulk sub. I read frank's playing with coffee as a substrate. I don't want to get into it I just have a specific question. Can I sterilize a cup of hydrated spent coffee grounds in a jar in a pressure cooker and then add that to my properly pasteurized bulk substrate when I am spawning my tub? The bacteria of the bulk sub that was pasteurized will protect the coffee from contamination while doing the spawn run correct?

I use coffee in my soak water (grains) and usually don't add anything to my bulk subs.

Ok. So can I sterilize it and add it to the pasteurized sub or should I pasteurize it and add it? I use a small amount, as an additive. I haven't had a contam with it yet and I'm 4/4 so far on tubs with a cup added, but I want to start "heat treating" it in a separate container as my bulk sub so as not to cook the acid into my bulk sub and not mess with the ph as much. Please can someone help? I'm not asking if I should add it.. I'm asking a completely different question.

I tried mixing some sterilized (should have pasteurized instead) spent coffee grains in a hpoo verm tray that was spawned with some WBS. I ended up with some monster fruits but only got one flush and it then contamed. I have a feeling it was from the coffee grains I added. As far as the fruits being so big, probably just genetics (took prints). Since then I haven't attempted using anything that has to do with coffee,. Probably got lucky even getting the one flush from what I have read. Besides that, Im still learning and would probably be best to stick with what works best. But I had an outdoor patch I used coffee grounds in and seemed to work. Not sure if even has that much benefit but as a noob I really couldn't say.

I use coffee all the time. I just add it to the rest of my substrate material before I hydrate it. Then I pasteurise it at all together.
You might get lucky. I made one substrate almost entirely out of un treated coffee and it went for several flushes.

The benefits of adding coffee are minor. so if it is causing you problems I would say skip it. Coffee Isn't for everyone.

I have been playing with it and same strain preforms faster side by side than the sub without it. That was just CVG. The other was the same CVG with coffee added. It fully colonized about a day and a half earlier. It pinned earlier too but I didn't pay attention to how much I just noticed it. I didn't notice much of a difference in how big the fruits were. I might do another one and document it.

When you say "Un treated" do you mean used grounds fresh from coffee shop? Or grounds that may be a little older. I have read claims the brewing process is a pasteurization. I use coffee in edibles which seem to work, but I am really new to this. Don't mean to hijack, just interested in the coffee issues. Thanks.

I took fresh grounds and ran them threw my coffee maker 3 times before I used them. I don't recommend doing this by the way. It was just one of the weird little things that I like to try from time to time when I don't care if it fails or not.

Liquid coffee in your soak water won't cause trich. It's really more of an issue when grounds are added to the substrate.

Yeah I use very little. 1 cup of freshly spent grounds.
