This is what it is. I used 2.5 pints of the coco and 2.5 of vermiculite. Then i added like 2 pints of water. It was too wet so I added another 5-6 handfuls of verm and 5-6 of coir. Then did the squeeze test. It filled up 3 quart jars which I then pasteurized it and let it cool over night.

Ok I'm getting totally lost. I got 3 quarts total 3 very very full quarts. I used about 1.5 quarts of coir and 1.5 quarts of verm give or take a handful. I also added about 1 qt of water. Is this ratio good??? And I know I need about 7 more quarts.

Ok so here's what I'm thinking.. I need 7 more quarts. So if 8 make the rest 80/20 I would want 5.5qts of coco and 1.5qts of verm roughly correct?? (

Ok, first off I'm far from a noon. Just because I've just recently registered on here doesn't mean I'm new to the game. Ive always drilled my holes when I'm ready to fruit. Plastic does NOT get in the tub, your drilling from the outside in, all the plastic ends up on the surface of your working area. And why drill holes before hand just to tape them up for colonization? That's what makes no sense. And by drilling when your ready to fruit, your holes are at perfect level with the sub. You can't knock something and pretend to know what your talking about when you haven't done it...

your thinking ratio for the coir to verm mixture and everyone else is saying ratio as in the grain spawn to bulk sub ratio i think.
for your bulk sub if its coir/verm do 80/20 (or 4:1) and when your mixing that bulk sub with your grains you want to use the 1:2 (grain:bulk) so 5qt grain spawn:10qt bulk sub or go as low in grain as 1:4. which would be 5qt grain and 20qt bulk

OH HOLY HE'LL this was just a shit load of confusion lol I get it. Yea I meant how much verm and coir I want as a ratio then the ratio of coir and verm to spawn. Ok so I want 2:1 for substrate:spawn then I want 4:1 for the su strate. Now I got it. Everyone was just confused and flustered.

So you drill when your ready to fruit. No big deal, no the best way to do things. If you know how many jars you have and the size of the tub, you can drill your holes before hand based on the amount of sub you plan on using.
Me personally I drill holes pre-bulk, but I leave the hole liner in tact and when I am ready to fruit I cut the liner out.

I haven't done it because i wouldn't that's foolish. Whats the big deal about taping holes?
Your holes can be at a perfect level already if you put the sub depth to the level you want it to be just below the holes.

I always drill my holes from the inside out so all the crumbs fall outside of the tub.

Dude just... fucken... oh my god...
3 quarts of spawn will colonize a 3 inch sub in a 66 quart mono just fine.
3 quarts of spawn will also colonize a 3 inch sub in a 27 qt mono.
Stop worrying about your fucking ratios so much.
650 grams of coco coir + 2 quarts of verm + 4.5 - 5 quarts of water for a bucket tek. This is your bulk sub ratio. You can colonize all of it with 3 quarts of spawn just fine.
You can use 3 quarts of spawn for a big mono or a little mono. You can use 7 quarts of spawn for a little mono or a big mono.
Spawn to sub Ratios of 1:10 are not unheard of.
Whenever I have a new tub I like to spawn first and then drill the holes later. I get minimal plastic on the inside and it doesn't seem to affect anything.

well you only make the tub once, so your point is irrelevant. you still need to figure out how to measure sub+spawn to hit the holes placement for every time you use the same tub as a monotub
I dont care for reg dates I call you a noob based on the advice I see you're giving (IN MULTIPLE THREADS)!
