Can mycelium colonize @ 84 degrees?

The area my brf jars will be colonizing is usually around 79 - 85 degrees. Are these temperatures suitable? ive read it should be 75 - 81 but will a few degrees higher cause any damage any effects? Thanks in advance.

Might cause them to slow down / throw off more evaporation thus drying them out s little faster. Although since your doing jars your going to be dunking anyways so it shouldn't be a problem. I'd try to lower that temp a few degrees though. Don't have clothes or anything near them to trap heat in/around the jars. Put them lower to the ground on a shelf. (Heat rises).
Good luck !

84 is too warm you want 70-80 for optimal results. You can cause bacteria to grow and drastically slow myc growth at that temp

Idk if im going to be dunking and rolling. Instead of leaving as cakes im planning to grate 24 cakes down and mix with a 1:4 ratio of coir and verm for bulk without wbs because i do not have a pressure cooker. Havent read many threads of people doing this but i have read a few teks about this method

It's been written that 84'F is an optimal temperature for mycellium, though those (older, deprecated?) write-ups in favor of incubation while the jar is colonizing usually recommend no higher than 81'F because the fungus's own exothermic metabolism may raise the temperature higher still. I think they're basically happy enough anywhere in that 60-80'F range during colonization.

They will colonize that high but bacteria and other nasties thrive in higher temp areas. So.. Your playing Russian roulette. Do what you can to drop those temps a little. If you can't do that then let it be and see what happens. Keep your peaking at them to a minimum. You should be good but don't want to lead false hope. Provided your moisture content is on par you will have better success with higher temps. Excess water + high temps = bad bad.
Good luck. Post your results :p

If there is bacteria in your spawn that's not good you need to clean up your cultures

84 is fine. If there's bacteria there's bacteria. A temp per se doesn't create bacteria.

Exactly this is why we do agar if you are shooting a syringe into a jar there is most likely bacteria or other mold spores

I think you should still dunk them for 24 ish hours if spawning to bulk. No need to roll them. Can somebody back me up on this?

No need to dunk, but you can if you want I did for about 10 minutes the sub should provide enough moisture

It really doesn't make much of a difference from what I could tell but I did that years ago so my memory my not serve me well but if you are going bulk check out spitballjedis bucket tek or learn to properly pasteurize either way you will do fine

84 is higher than I let my jars get. It will work but it's not optimal. Anything that tips the growing conditions in favor of bacteria is a bad idea no matter how clean you think your jars are. Mind you this is more of a concern with grain jars than BRF.

I live in LA, where we've been shattering heat records every other day this summer. Most of the days, since May, have been 80+. Last two months have been 95-105 on average. Nights are only 75 degrees, so the house never cools. It's a constant oven unless you turn the AC. There was a lot of condensation, but it didn't stop the myc.
