Heat tolerance of PETE

So at work today I had an epiphany. We have a veritable shitload of these containers and I figured they could be used for agar, however I'm not sure if they would withstand PCing. I'm gonna take some home and experiment with them. This might be a decent reason to get into pour agar, with the unlimited free containers and all. If these don't stand up to the PC, could I just wipe them down with alcohol inside the SAB?

Unfortunately the alcohol will not suffice or we would all reuse our petri dishes

Shit so they're no good? Oh well easy come easy go. I've heated food in them and they don't even hold up to much time in the microwave so I doubt they'll hold up in the PC. Good thing I just bought a shitload of mini rounds lol

IME some of the mini rounds I used the lid would tend to loosen after the first run but that could have been a fluke. I would usually opt for the twist top ones though.

While I love Pasty, I did the Pasty PLate and the tiger drop. I personally Perfer Petri's. OP Those look good, cant wait to see if they will stand up to a PC cycle.

I didn't grab any because PETE is pretty shitty under heat. The pasty plates I made on Monday are doing really well and showing growth. I might give the PETE ones a whirl when my 6oz package of agar agar arrives.

Pasty plates are great for things like cloning and spore germination but I prefer petris for further transfers because of the reduced visibility of pasty plates. Most of my PP5 lids get a bit looser after PCing but I still use them without issue. I have some that have gone for over a dozen runs.

I mainly started using petris because I like to check out my plates under my scope from time to and that is not possible with PP5s. If you want bigger pasty plates use the ziploc pop tops they are a happy medium between the glad mini rounds and Ziploc screw tops.

The pasty plates I made on Monday are the ziploc kind. I got some mini rounds because I can fit more in my tiny ass PC. I'm dramatically upgrading my PC in 2 weeks and size will no longer be an issue.

Right now I only have a 6qt PC. It can do an amazing 2qts of grain and 4 of the ziploc pop tops. So glad I get 3 paychecks next month. The first thing I'm buying is that Presto 23qt monster
