Is This Bulk or Casing?

Hey Shroomery! So I have been using a sort of Frankenstein of methods I've found on here and it has worked great for me so far! I do have a couple of questions about my method and would always love constructive criticism and ideas to improve my grow.
When I grow I put about 1 inch of vermiculite in the bottom of a plastic "shoebox" bin with tinfoil. I pour boiling water on top until field capacity, then I place a piece of tinfoil on top of the box and wait till cooled. After cooled I take my standard BRF cakes that have been soaking for 24 hours and crumble them on top of the verm. I allow that to sit for 2 days then I add a layer of coco coir and vermiculite 60/40ish on top. I prepare the coir and verm by adding boiling water till field capacity and allowed to cool.
Typically I would just fruit right after the casing and in a couple of days I would get pins. Normally a little bit of mycellium comes through the top but not much. On my last grow I used B+ and the mycellium covered the coir in only a few days! So I added more coir and it again colonized that and has been fruiting amazing. Is the coir acting as a bulk substrate? I always considered it to be used just for moisture. Should I allow my bins to incubate after adding the coir? Why does B+ seem to colonize so much quicker and more aggressive than all my other strains?
Sorry this is really long just hard to explain my questions... Thanks!

that would be mnore csing then a bulk sub, iu would s imply mix it all once you break your cakes up and let it all colonize(simply put spawn it!)
-------------------- It doesn't matter what i think of you...all that matters is clean spawn
I'm tired do me a favor

What you are doing is cased grains. you case top and bottom but its still cased grains. Since coir can be used as both a bulk substrate and a casing material when it colonised and you then cased over it, it essentially became a bulk substrate. B+ has nothing to do with it. The particular set of genetics you are working with just happen to be strong colonisers or they really like coir.

I had a feeling that B+ didn't really mean anything but either way I must have a great isolate (I use LC) So would you all recommend I mix the crumbled cakes with the coir? Should I keep the verm bottom layer?

I use about 3 quarts of verm per 650 gram brick of coir. I have never used cakes as spawn though so I'm not sure how many cakes you should use.

Thanks! I don't have any gypsum I'm going to look for some tomorrow. Do you know if Walmart carries? How much of that do you add?

I just throw in a random handful. I have been unable to find powdered gypsum so I just crush pieces of drywall to get mine.

Drywall is gypsum.
Except the fire rated and moisture rated stuff probably has other junk in it too.
