Damn. Should have just made a SGFC. I would think it would be hard to keep a GH at high enough humidity for a good shroom growing environment.
Did you dunk/roll your cakes after birth?

it's not so much about humidity, i think the fact is there too small with lots of exposed surface area and gravity to fight, those are the only things i could think of but i tried cakes in my gh a few times they just never performed well for me, a sgfc done right is full of cakes and i can't fill my gh with cakes so it just looked silly

If you find that cakes keep on not working for you you could shred them with a cheese grater into a tray alone or with a little bit of coir. I've fruited cake-bricks and cake-trays ok in my GH but PF cakes never worked.

Watch Let's Grow Mushrooms. as well. It will show you how to construct a proper Shotgun Fruiting Chamber and the entire PF Tek process. Also fallow this tek.
BRF cakes in a SGFC are the easiest and most foolproof way to get into the hobby of mushroom cultivation. Just fallow these videos and tek and you will succeed
