Agar from Asian food store ?

Today I have bought some agar from an Asian food store. On the package it does not say anything of any supplements like color or preservatives. Has somebody got experience with this kind of agar and knows if I can use it for mushroom cloning ?

ya.. works fine It's just plain agar agar right? You'd need to add some dextrose or whatever you're gonna use for nutrients.

yeah, it's just plain agar. Can I use the same amount as listed in the common formulas ( 20g agar / liter ) ?

If thats the case, I wonder how much effect growing some thick mycelium on some flavored agar and than eating it would have.

I think that would depend very much on the type of mycelium

Tell them you want to make asian desserts.
I actually get my agar from the health food store...you might want to try some of them too.
